"Congregate" was my earliest enlightenment with experimental music, undoubtedly showcasing the rugged qualities of experimental music. Recorded during the process of the "Compassion" collection, unlike "Panic," "Raw Language," or "The Highest Flood," "Congregate" did not appear in them. However, it undeniably follows a stylistic track in the theme of "Compassion."
Resonance occurs not only on the singular level of "sympathy" moved by vocals but also simultaneously due to the use of natural elements and vocals, making "Congregate" organic and approachable. The atmosphere envelops the listeners from the outset, drawing them deeper and creating a successful atmospheric setting.
No rises, breaks, cuts, gaps, or drones; the progression is logical. Even six years later, "Congregate" continues influencing my tastes in experimental and ambient music. For example, it subtly shapes my reliance on Drones and yearning for vocals.
